Literacy Development Resources

A Companion Site to TEST2r.

This site contains links to resources for interventions suitable to use with children who exhibit difficulties in literacy acquisition.

The links on the page below will bring you to each individual test page and the interventions that are suitable for children who have difficultly with that particular task.

The Task Domain links will take you to a page where you can get an overview for each domain. It will outline the tests that lie within each domain, indicate the level of difficulty of each task and point you in the direction of relevant interventions.

TEST2r

TEST2r was developed as an early screener for children in danger of experiencing reading difficulties by Dr. Pauline Cogan in the course of her doctoral research in Trinity College, Dublin.
TEST2r contains a total of 18 tasks designed to assess a child's capabilities in various skill domains that are related to literacy acquisition.  The first 5 tasks are the components of a screening test, and only children who demonstrate difficulties here will go on to be assessed by the further diagnostic test battery (tasks 6-18).  After the screening test, the tasks progress through the battery at increasing levels of difficulty, which enables us to assess where to target the interventions needed.
