Final Phoneme Deletion - Non-Word Remaining

This task is a slightly more difficult version of the previous 'Final Phoneme Deletion - Real Word Remaining' task.  Interventions rely on the same series of phonemic awareness and final phoneme identification resources.

  • The Florida Centre for Reading Research provides a simple instructional resource, in relation to Letter Sound Correspondence for teachers or parents.  Further activities and ideas are available in this Phonics Activities PDF.  
  • Specific Final Phoneme Awareness interventions can be found in an instructional sheet for teachers from the Florida Centre for Reading Research.  While this resource also refers to initial phoneme deletion, it also includes advise relation to final phoneme identification.   A series of activities for children are also available.
